self portraits

This is a random collection of self portraits that I’ve done over the years. Back in the day, I used to hate self portraits. Most artists seem to make them, though, so I forced myself to get over it back in college. Now I might have too many haha.

This is a low poly self portrait from 2015. They were very trendy and I wanted in on the trend.

This is a double self portrait. I traced it off of a photo of myself that I took for a project about self portraits. The photo is from 2014 and the tracing is 2016, I think.

This meet the artist is circa 2017. Most of this still applies.

This is a thing I did in 2018. It’s not meant to be scary or anything—just a random thought I had that I turned into a photo.

This is from a stuck at home Instagram challenge from March of 2020. This was my early pandemic stuck at home vibe.

I call this one my quick and dirty self portrait because it came on the heels of the one above. I joined a 30-day pandemic drawing challenge and wasn’t quite ready for another self portrait just yet.

This was from another pandemic drawing challenge. The prompt was “you as a kid” so I drew myself in the style of Sailor Moon, my all-time favorite anime that I’ve loved since I was a tiny tot.

Yet another from the pandemic drawing challenge. It was “outfit of the day” and this was apparently the outfit I wore that day. Seems about right.

This is the final one from the drawing challenge. The prompt was something about drawing yourself with superpowers and I picked telekinesis because I’m nothing if not lazy.

Here’s one from 2023. There may or may not have been some tracing involved in the outlines. Mostly I just got excited about coloring it all funky.

Below are a bunch of self portraits I did on paper. It was the summer of 2014 and I had nothing to do. I spent my days working and my evenings binge-watching Naruto and drawing my face in a bunch of different art styles. Most of them are bad, but these are the ones I liked enough to immortalize on the internet. These are also the reason all of the ones you just looked at exist. They were how I forced myself to get comfy with self portraits.

Here’s my anime-style. Peep that Leaf Village headband. Ya girl was obsessed.
